Island of the Blue Dolphins

One day while I was in elementary school, there was a school assembly in the cafeteria.  Well I was excited, it interrupted math!  Turns out we were called there to watch a movie! It was HEAVEN!  Not the movie, but the euphoria I felt for getting out of class to watch a movie.

Any who, the movie was “Island of the Blue Dolphin”.  I was mesmerized.  Just imagine, living alone on an island, with no one to tell you what to do, what to eat.  No sister to bully you.  It was just you, and a wild pack of dogs’ intent on eating you.  No worries cuz you tame the leader of the pack and you live happily ever after.

To this day, I still think of this movie fondly.  As a matter of fact, I actually was thinking about it this week, wishing to see it again. Then "poof", the very next day I was in the Goodwill Store and what do you know!  There on the used book shelf was “Island of the Blue Dolphin”.

It was a sign so I bought it.

Funny, I never knew there was a book about this movie. Color me embarrassed, where do movies usually come from!  So this afternoon I read it from cover to cover.  I loved it just as much as the movie.  As I read, the movie played in my head.  That’s the best vacation I ever had.

Huggin' and Squeezin'

Based on various studies, couples who hold hands and are affectionate with one another tend to have lower blood pressure. All that cuddling may boost levels of a calming hormone called Oxytocin.

That’s not to be confused with OxyContin which is a pain killing drug people sometimes overdose on trying to get a euphoric rush.

So just hug it out for a healthier you

D-lightful!

I love me some breakfast in the morning!  What I would really love is a McGriddle but those make me fat(ter).

I don't like eatting fruit and twigs for breakfast.  I want a hearty man's breakfast or a hearty-tack breakfast is more like it. But I am trying to change my eating habits and I wanted something that would satisfy my cravings as well as be healthier for me.

That's where these come in, Jimmy D’s.  It's kinda like fast food but it's not.  I love these.  They taste good, their easy to cook and I can grab one to go when I am on the road.

Bend it like Gumby

I would like to say this is me at my yoga class but it isn’t.  I couldn’t get into that yoga outfit much less the pose.

Do you have any idea the amount of upper arm strength she has?! I’m just hoping one day to be able to do push-ups in plank pose.

The price of beauty

While standing in line at the bank yesterday, the bank manager came up to me.

“Excuse me ma’me, are you OK?” he asked with concern in his voice.

“Yes, why?”

“Well your face was contorted in such a way I thought you were about to be sick”, he said sheepishly.

I could feel my face burning bright red. Embarrassed I replied. “Oh no everything is fine. I was just doing my face yoga.”

Thankfully the next teller became available and I scurried off as quickly as possible to hide my shame. Then it dawned on me.  They video tape everyone in the bank don't they?! CRAP! Sometimes I forget I live in the world with other people.

Doh!

There is a drought going on where I live.  We're about 30" behind in rain fall and we are on mandatory water rationing.  Everything is brown and crunchy.  It hurts to breathe, it's so hot.

Well the other day I was driving around town and saw a sign at the car wash that said "End the drought, wash your car today!".  It was so funny that I did it.

The next day it rained.  In fact it has rained everyday since then.  I should have washed my car sooner.

Wrinkle me this

There are about 57 muscles in your face and just like the ones in your body, these will start to sag and droop over time. As my birthday approaches I can start to see the cracks, crevices and JOWLS! Oh my!

So what's a girl to do? Surgery? That's a little too expensive for me now and it probably hurts. Botox? Shooting poison in my head doesn't appeal to me and plus I'm sure it doesn't work on the jowls.

Well here's something that is not so new but its beginning to take the medical community and yoga studios by storm. Facial Yoga. For only 20 minutes a day by contorting your face into weird shapes and goofy looks you can transform yourself into a younger looking you. Some experts say that if you do these exercises everyday for 20 minutes you will begin to notice a difference in two to four weeks.

This isn't fast but its cheap and natural, not to mention natural looking. Do some research and check it out on the web. See if your local yoga studio offers classes or get the exercises off the web. You can even get an App for it.

Maybe by this time next year I will look younger than I did this year!

The Sound of Healing

Negative thoughts, we all have had them at one time or another in our lives. For some these negative thoughts never leave.

I had always been harsh with myself but a recent string of events magnified my negativity sending me into a deep spiral of depression that was out of control.

Recently I came across something called Resonance Repattering. Basically RR helps you to pinpoint your unconscious negative frequency patterns and 'changes the channel' to tune in to something positive.

There is a lot more to it than that brief summary so you may want to Google it. What I do know is this. We are all made up of energy and that includes our thoughts. What we think sends out a frequency (think radio station) and that frequency starts to attract similar energies (think radio listeners). The more we think certain thoughts the more we will attract those thoughts into being.

Take me for example. After my boyfriend ended our relationship, I felt betrayed, worthless and disposable. For a year afterwards that's all I thought about and eventually my employers felt the same about me and eliminated my job. So now I had two rejections to beat myself up about. As I started looking for another job, I kept feeling worthless and useless. And for over a year I dealt with rejection after rejection from potential employers. I realized that my thoughts had created my world.

After hearing about Resonance Repatterning I decided to give it a try and I have to say it worked wonders for me. I was asked a lot of questions; the origin of my negative thought process was pinpointed, a treatment was determined (in my case it was sound therapy) and poof! It was done.

Since my session I have not had negative thoughts about my self or my situation. Believe me, I tried to go there a couple of times. I tried to stir it up and get all negative and depressed but my mind wouldn't go there. The station was dark, no more signal.

RR has helped to remove a lot of obstacles for me. Now I can focus on other things instead of wallering around in my sorrow and pain. Now I can move forward. Has anyone else out there done this? What experiences did you have?
